What does 'flowering period' mean? |
Q: On your website, you refer to the 'flowering period' of each strain. What does that mean?
Q: Is the flowering period the period of time a plant will take before it starts to flower, or the amount of time it will flower for?
A: The term flowering period as used on the Nirvana Shop website refers to the number of weeks a plant will flower in total, from the moment it comes into bloom until harvesting time.
Bear in mind that the flowering period we specify for each strain is an average. The flowering period can fluctuate because of several factors (whether you're growing outdoors or not, whether the plants are stressed, etc.). Avoid light leaks and over- or under-fertilising the plants to make the flowers ripen more quickly.

The period of time a plant will take until it
starts to flower is almost wholly dependent on the individual grower's preferences. Cannabis plants (except auto-flowering ones) will start flowering only when you expose them to a light cycle of 12/12 light/dark (or, more precisely, when you expose them to any more dark hours than 9).
Growers may choose to keep plants in their vegetative state for longer or shorter periods of time. How long you veg a plant for is up to you!
