Cannabinoids are the (psycho)active ingredients of marijuana. The most important ones are THC, CBD and CBN.

Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants that has long been used for fibre (hemp), for medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug. Cannabis plants grown for the latter two purposes contain THC, a psychoactive molecule that produces a "high" or "stone", a narcotic or energising effect. There are numerous names for the final psychoactive product, such as marijuana, weed, grass, ganja, and pot. It consists of the dried flowers and leaves of plants selected to produce high levels of THC. Other preparations from the cannabis plant include hashish and hash or honey oil, kief, bhang and various cannabis foods such as brownies and space cake.

The two first little leaves that emerge from a germinated cannabis seed are called the seed leaves or cotyledons.
